BOOK SALE HELD IN LAGUNA BEACH( March 9, 2013)
Hundreds of donated books were sold at Chhahari’s Lovingly Used Book Sale held Saturday, March 9, 2013. The sale was held at the office building of attorney Tom Davis, a founding board member who helped Chris Casey obtain our organization’s nonprofit status. A deep bow of gratitude to the Laguna Beach board members and all the customers who stopped by to purchase books! "

FUND RAISING PROGRAM- PICTURING CHHAHARI(September 2012)
An exhibition of photographs called "Picturing Chhahari" displayed beautiful color photographs taken by the children from our home. The show was made possible through the work in Kathmandu of visiting British photographers David Donovan-Brown and Georgina Child, who asked the children to use point-and-shoot digital cameras to create these remarkable photos. Prints were sold at the exhibition to the 65 guests who also viewed as a video slide show the hundreds of photos taken by the children. Generous host Paula Milano and Chhahari U.S. board co-chairs Ann Shea and Barbara McMurray put the event together, with help from Chris Casey and the entire board. Another photo show is planned for Del Mar, a town 65 miles to the south where several U.S. board members reside, in early 2013.  >Photo

TABLE FOR TWENTY(September 8, 2012)
A "Table for Twenty" dinner to benefit Chhahari was hosted at the home of Laura Parker in Del Mar, California on September 8th, 2012. It was a special four course menu prepared by renowned chef, Kay Hanson and paired with some donated wines from Jim Coleman. The event brought together many different community members to share and spread the word about Chhahari. Christine Casey, the founder, was there to talk about the early days of the orphanage, the future mission and what can be done to support the cause. Over $3500 was raised at the event and it was the first of an annual occasion!.  >Photo

4TH ANNUAL PICNIC (21-Apr-12)
Walter and Anders Rayher from Denmark, who visited us for two weeks during April, provided Chhahari with the funds to host our annual picnic in Godavari, located in the foothills, just outside of the Kathmandu Valley. Everyone enjoyed a day of fun, food, games and a visit to the Godavari botanical gardens. Thanks again to Walter and Anders. FUNDRAISING IN LAGUNA BEACH (Sep. 2011)
Laguna Beach, California resident Christine Casey and her nonprofit home for orphaned and at-risk Nepalese children, Chhahari (“shelter” in Nepali), received a colorful introduction to the community at a Saturday night soiree in September. Seven Tibetan Buddhist monks, visiting Laguna Beach for Tibet Cultural Week, performed an elaborate blessing for the orphanage and the evening’s 200 guests, tossing rice grains, playing music, and chanting with their distinctive throat singing. More fundraising in Laguna Beach will be held in an effort to help Chhahari meet its annual budget and continue to help the children of its community.  >Photo

NAMASTE NEPAL (20-March-11)
Chhahari board members Carol Kerridge & Ingrid Hoffmeister from Del Mar California created a fun afternoon event at the home of Dr. Maneck & Harriett Wadia on Sunday March 20th. Sixty people attended the "Namaste Nepal" celebration to raise money for our 21 children of Chhahari. The afternoon included Indian & Nepalese food, the playing of Tibetan Bowls and a photographic slide show of their October visit to Nepal with Dr David & Sally Monahan. While in the Kathmandu area, the group conducted a number of medical camps. Thanks to all our generous friends who donated their $$$$. We hope you will one day join us in Nepal and meet all the wonderful children of Chhahari.A deep bow in gratitude.  >Photo
